CNC Turning Programmer
Job Description
We are currently looking for a programmer, with experience programming CNC lathe machines to join our methods department in Pointe-Claire located in the West Island of Montreal. The incumbent will be responsible for providing expertise and continuous support to the development, modification and optimization of machining programs for the machining of complex precision parts on numerical control lathe machines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare CNC programs to support production requirements providing optimum manufacturing cost and quality
- Provide most practical manufacturing methods, fixtures and tooling to obtain maximum manufacturing effectiveness
- Prepare setup instructions that list tools, tool positions, feeds, speeds, jaws and fixtures required to run machines in assigned work area
- Maintain current revision logs and levels of CNC programs and computer files
- Document and communicate to manufacturing personnel all existing and/or any changed manufacturing methods and instructions pertaining to workplace tools, fixtures, and other operating procedures
- Continuously evaluate and update methods, tooling equipment, innovations and methods applications
- Advise, counsel, make recommendations and provide technical assistance to shop operations for the solution of daily production problems related to methods and tooling
Job qualifications
- Must have a college degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a combination of vocationnal with relevant experience would be accepted)
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in CNC programming with Mastercam or Siemens NX (unigraphics) for the production of complex parts
- Experience with materials such as inconel, titanium, stainless, etc.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate in both English and French (Oral/Written)
- Prior machinist experience (a highly regarded asset)
