CNC programmer - Turn & milling

Job Description

We are looking for a CNC programmer with experience in the manufacturing industry to join our turn and milling team in the west island of Montreal. The CNC programmer will be required to provide expertise and continuous support to the development, modification and optimization of machining programs for the manufacture of precision components on CNC turn and milling machines. Working from customer drawings and engineer blueprints, the CNC programmer will create, implement and maintain efficient manufacturing processes for the turn and milling operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible to set up the CNC machine for daily production and focus on reducing and optimizing machining and manufacturing costs. The candidate will be responsible to create new CNC programs and optimize existing ones in order to produce high-quality aerospace components and assemblies. The CNC programmer will determine the best method of manufacturing to achieve required tolerances, finishes and critical features.
 

Responsibilities

  • Develop most practical and efficient manufacturing methods for all Turn and mill machining centres operations;
  • Interpret drawings, sketches and blueprints to determine appropriate CNC programming processes;
  • Prepare CNC programs to optimize manufacturing costs and quality for all turn and milling operations;
  • Prepare and program CNC turn and milling machines by entering set-up instructions for machine operators;
  • Prepare tool lists, tool positions, feeds, speeds, jaws and fixtures essential to the operation as necessary;
  • Establish preliminary machining sequences and develop, document and maintain processes;
  • Plan and develop practical and efficient manufacturing methods that improve upon daily turn and mill operations;
  • Document and transmit to all manufacturing personnel existing methods, instructions, or modifications in regards to work tools, fixtures and other operational procedures;
  • Participate in the development and training of staff to ensure compliance with company procedures and achieve the desired productivity rate;

Job qualifications

  • Must possess a college diploma in mechanical engineering (or a combination of vocational education with relevant CNC programming experience);
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in CNC programming;
  • Experience with complex machined components in the aerospace industry is an asset;
  • Experience with Siemens NX  and Mastercam for the production of complex parts;
  • Machining experience required;
  • Working knowledge of Live tooling lathes is a definite plus;
  • Knowledge of Multi-Axis Mori Seiki NT-series machining centers is a preferable;
  • Ability to communicate in both English and French (Oral/Written).
