CNC machinist - Internal cylindrical grinder
Job Description
We are looking for a CNC machinist with experience on cylindrical grinder to join our team in the West Island of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The candidate is responsible to interpret engineer and customer produced set-up sheets and requirements to determine set-up procedures, machining sequences and dimensions in order to produce high-quality aerospace components and assemblies. The grinder machinist will set-up and operate computer numerical control (CNC) grindiner machine to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to within customer specified tolerances. The candidate will machine parts to specifications using a cylindrical grinding machine ( studer S151) for internal diameters.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex set-ups using supplied set-up instructions and related documentation;
- Set up, adjust and operate CNC machines to perform precision machining operations;
- Interpret drawings, sketches and blueprints to determine appropriate machining processes;
- Monitor the feed and speed of CNC machines during the machining process;
- Enter commands to retrieve, input or edit CNC programs;
- Measure, examine and test completed components to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments;
- Observe and pay attention to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools;
- Change cutting tools and location of workpiece during machining process as specified in set-up instructions;
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers;
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machine;
- Ensure compliance to computerized software requirements and application of standards at all levels;
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and Total Quality Management (TQM) activities;
Job qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience on a CNC cylindrical grinding machine;
- Experience with internal grinding is a must;
- Experience with complex machined components in the aerospace industry is an asset;
- Vocational diploma as a Machinist or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent is also considered;
- Ability to communicate in both English and French (Oral/Written).
